5 Ways to Prepare Your AirBnb for Summer

Summer is the time for getting away. Whether it be a weekend trip or a week-long vacation, it's time to take a break from your everyday life. With traveling on the rise, it's a great time for AirBnb hosts to start prepping for what's to come this summer. Before you know it, people will be looking to stay at your rental, and you want to prep it for the upcoming months. We've got 5 ways to help you prepare your AirBnb for the summer.

Smart Door Lock

A smart lock is an electromechanical lock that is able to connect to your home's WiFi network, allowing it to receive the code or smartphone command to lock or unlock. The instructions to lock and/or unlock comes from an authorized device using a wireless protocol and a cryptographic key to execute the authorization process. Some smart locks require you to completely replace your entire lock system, but others fit right over your existing lock system or only require a few modifications, which can be perfect for your AirBnb.

The smart lock system is great for guests coming to your residence because you can secretly give them the passcode and keep track of when it is and isn't used. This can also be done no matter where you are. If you're not near the AirBnb, you can still make sure the smart lock is secured, and you'll be able to ensure your guests are safe throughout their stay.

Smart Lighting

Smart lighting is the newly improved way to brighten up your home (or in this case, your AirBnb). The lighting contains smart LED bulbs that have software which connects to either an app, smart home assistant, or other smart accessory. This way, you'll be able to automate your lights or control them remotely, eliminating the need for traditional wall switches. This gives you the ability to control lights from anywhere.

LED lights are beneficial to your AirBnb because it saves you money in the long run. They aren't harshly bright and they tend to last longer than a traditional bulb, so you don't have to constantly change them. Smart lighting can also detect when someone enters or leaves a room, this way there is no electricity being used.

Smart Sprinkler System

A smart irrigation or sprinkler system controls feature advanced sensors with the ability to use plant and weather apps for information needed to properly water your grass and plants. The weather apps are able to figure out your watering patterns based on the weather. If it's rained too much or hasn't rained in a long time, the app can figure that out and detect how much water your lawn really needs.

Using this sprinkler system on an AirBnb is perfect because you don't need to be present to water your lawn. It does it automatically if need be. And if guests are occupying the property, you can also shut the sprinkler system off to ensure it doesn't turn on and affect their stay.

Smart Fire and CO2

The newest way to detect fires and CO2 levels in your home, a smart smoke alarm or CO2 detector will alert you if there's potential danger from smoke, fire, or a malfunctioning appliance, even when you're not home. This is perfect if your AirBnb isn't occupied, or if it is, you'll be able to know if your guests are in danger.

These smart systems will notify you via an alarm, and on your phone's app. If the alarm is either a false alarm or if you've solved the issue (such as a burnt popcorn situation) you can let the app know that the problem was taken care of. You can also check the battery life on the alarms through the app. It's the perfect use for when you're not the one occupying the Airbnb.
